A New Year...

Wow! I can't believe another year has already swept by.

All year I struggled with the fact that we are always in a hurry....
The hustle and bustle that life continuously throws at us makes me feel like we are doing something wrong....
From the moment we rise out of bed to the moment we fall to our pillows, life is busy......

Breakfast, off to school, clean up, midday pick up, 3:30 pick up, homework, soccer practice, piano lessons, golf lessons, dinner, bath, stories and prayers, ironing and packing lunches for the next day, off to bed to start all over again.......
Maybe it's the fact that we have four children all born within four and a half years........
Maybe, we want them to be too well rounded.....
Maybe, I can't say no......
But, it feels so wrong all the same.....
So this year, as I reflect on our year, I am wondering what we can cut?
How can we simplify?
How can we hurry less?
All the while trying to bring glory to God.
Trying to seek His will.
Trying to raise children who love and know God.

What are some ways you've been able to find the balance?

Yea for updates! I know you're busy, but it is nice to read about what you and your kids are up to. It looks like you guys had an awesome Christmas. I need to see about getting on your Santa delivery route...

your kids are precious...I say take one day at a time - have some tyoe of schedule...start and end with prayer and add it thoughout the day. Take lots of deep breaths and look around at Gods beauty. You are very blessed! The kids are adorable! whit

Homeschooling has made a big difference for us. I know you've been considering it, so thought I'd mention it...
I also know of people who, for example, will play soccer in the Fall and baseball in the Spring (splitting up the sports/lessons/etc, instead of doing everything every season). Some things, like piano, I know need to be consistent, but other things can be broken up. Or maybe alternate who gets to play the sports (2 this year, 2 next year), or have them choose golf or soccer, we're only focusing on one this year.
But look how much of your list would be knocked out by homeschooling...off to school, 2 pick-ups, homework, ironing and packing lunches...well okay not ironing, I know you love doing that.
Do you want me to keep trying to talk you into it? ; ) Or am I making things worse? lol
And hey, when did you quit facebook?

I have to agree with the homeschooling idea. Of course I'd say that since I've always done that but I watch other families fall apart or drift apart running in different directions. We've adopted the attitude that if our whole family can't participate, then we don't do it. That's no easy task with kids age 14 to 10 months. Sometimes we make exceptions but it has strengthened us. I love to see the kids choose family over other things all on their own. Good Luck!!
