Elisabeth asked me today if I thought God hated the evil one with all the bad things that he does?
Me: Well I am not sure. You know God hates the sin not the sinner. So I would think that God would hate all the things the evil one does bad but he does not hate the evil one. But I am not sure.
Elisabeth: I don't get that.
Me: Well let me look into it and I'll let you know.
So please I need some advice. Do you think God hates the evil one. I am not sure why Elisabeth refers to the devil as the evil one but she always has.

I too would have to research the scripture a bit, but think you answered it great! especially on the fly.... it's amazing how smart and insightful children are!
Wow... she is so smart. I thought your answer was great... I think God would have been proud (is proud of you) :-). I will come back to see what other people have to say bc my kid will be approaching these kinds of questions soon... too soon.
"Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you..." Was the first one that came to my mind (Matthew 5:44)
Psalm 97:10 says "Let those who love the LORD hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked." I think that falls into the "hating the sin" category.
Romans 12:9 says, "Hate what is evil. Cling to what is good."
That's all I've got off the top of my head...but thanks for raising the question. I like having to search for answers!
I think you answered her very well...but I'm not looking forward to the days when I'll be put on the spot by my kids!
