Word of the Day...

Hurrication
Definition: the act of turning a hurricane evacuation into a short vacation.
So...Wednesday we decided to travel to Andrews to visit Josh's parents. At that time the storm was headed strait to Corpus and we wanted to get out of town before everyone else. However, the storm turned just before we left. We had two extra days off of school and work so we thought it would be the best time to drive 8 hours across the big 'ol state of Texas. We made a vacation out of it and got to see the family.
We have many friends and family that live in the Houston area and have been thinking a praying for them all night. It was a long scary night for many of them. I texted with my brother (Brandon) at 6 am and he said he thought the worst of it was over but it was a long night. They have no electricity and he heard lots of transformer explosions.
Lord please protect us from the storm. Help us to not be scared. Help the workers to get the electricity on as soon as possible. Help everyone get some rest after the long noisy night. Be with those who are hurting through this. Guide us through this time of stress. Thank you for loving us so much. We love you. Amen

This word is absolutely the word of the week here at my grandmother's house. I told everyone you were calling it a hurrication, and everyone is now using it! We love it! We have mixed feelings as we are safe and dry and in the air conditioning at my grandmothers, while our of our friends and family are returning home and cleaning up. So far, everyone I have talked to has been okay. I haven't talked to Lisa yet. Have you?

that's a great word! so glad that you guys are all safe and sound, and hope that all those you know in houston are safe. my mom's sister and brother in law are fine, but my cousin and his wife and little boy are still without power, so they're staying with my aunt & uncle.
ps-i am kind of a ding dong, but i couldn't figure out that link you sent me. do i have to join in order to post pictures?!
