Dot to Dot

We have this family at our church that is awesome. They have five kids. Four of them are girls and one is a boy. Their kids are much older than mine. In fact they are awesome babysitters. I wish the parents would give Josh and I a lesson on how to be great parents. Anyway, their son is a junior in high school. Most juniors in high school are just concerned about themselves and could care less about the little kids at church but this guy is great. He is great with Hogan and plays with him at church and talks to him. Hogan wants to be just like him when he grows up. I hope he is just like him when he grows up. So tonight at small group, I was talking to his mother and she said she had to tell me a funny story about Hogan. I was scared. She said that when they got in the car after church Sunday that her son said he got dissed by a five year old. She said that Hogan was playing dot to dot with her son. The paper they were using was running out of room. Hogan looked up at the boy and said we could play dot to dot on your face you have dots on your face. While the mom laughed and thought it was funny. I felt terrible. She said Hogan did not mean it rude he was just matter of fact. She said her son was going to start on Acutane Monday. I feel so bad. He is such a great teenager. To make matters worse, this is the same family who Hogan asked their oldest daughter if she could kiss. (She is in college at ACU) When she told him no he asked her to baptise him instead. They probably think Josh and I are terrible parents.

They PROBABLY think "hahaha! remember when our kids were that age and said stuff like that to embarrass us?" Since they have five kids, I don't imagine there's much they haven't seen/heard. :) It's okay, mama. You're doing a really great job!!!

Oh sweetie! These are the moments you will look back on and smile. ;o) I can remember when my little sister asked my future mother in law if she had a baby in her belly. It was mortifying! But funny today. ;o) We have a family like that at our church too...the kids are such wonderful kids and sooooooo good with my babies! They come from a very broken home, but it warms my heart to see how sweet they are... This parenting thing isn't easy and I wouldn't know the first thing about how to teach tact to a child. :o) I just try to always tell my little one not to do something he wouldn't like someone else to do to him...but stuff like acne and weight etc., they may not quite 'get' yet because they haven't experienced it. Hang in there Momma! I know youre doing a wonderful job.

That is hilarious. And I promise, someday it will be funny to you, too!! I bet they've heard a few "funny stories" about their kids too!!

Case asked someone one time, to their face, if they were a boy or a girl!! I was so humiliated!! Now, it's kinda funny!!:)

P.S. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME PARENTS!! DON'T DOUBT THAT!!

Kids are so honest. It is refreshing at times and so embarrassing other times. I have been there with you. :-)

that cracks me up. we have all been in those shoes...it's much more funny in hindsight. i get easily embarrassed but with kids and the things they say, it's taking more to make me blush these days :)
and ps~ i did make the shirts. they were pretty easy. i went to etsy.com and got some ideas (just type in "turkey shirt") if you make one you have to post :)
