Jalapeno Jelly

My sister and I have been wanting to make Jalapeno Jelly for a long time and we just haven't. So earlier this week when she suggested we do it, I was super excited. She has a jalapeno plant and wanted to use up some of her crop. I HAD a jalapeno plant but I killed it. They do like to be watered every once in a while. So Shannon and Holley came over Friday morning and we made it.

You start with 5 cups of sugar and a cup of apple cider vinegar. Bring these to a boil.

With another cup of apple cider vinegar you blend 3/4 lb of jalapenos.

Add to the sugar and boil for 10 minutes. Then you add liquid pectin and boil for one minute.

Looks a lot like barf to me. (We added a little bit of red bell pepper for color)

TADA!!! The finished product. It was nice and hot too.

While they were over a took a few pictures of Harley and Benjamin.

Isn't she so sweet?!??!

.....and check out this sweet face. He was such a ham. He wanted me to take his picture. His sister on the other hand was not going to let me.

You pour it over cream cheese and eat it with crackers. It is delicious!

Is your friend brown-eyed fox??? I LOVE her blog and I have been meaning to "introduce" myself to her. The first time I stumbled across her site, I saw a picture of her on a trip with Holley. Then I saw your name on her sidebar, and thought waht a small world! I just drool over her photos...oh, my! I look at many of those crafty sites too. I have been meaning to put them on a side bar on my blog, but I just haven't sat down to do it. I think I got to her site through Janesays--I just love her stuff. Anyhoo-I am trying to make a go of an etsy shop. I know I am not as crafty as so many women out there, but I have a desire to do it.
Thanks for the b-day wishes. My day is going very well!!

I was wondering the same thing as Camille -- what the heck do you eat with jalapeno jelly? I bet it IS good with crackers and cream cheese! My mom made a lot of jellies and preserves when I was growing up. She canned a lot of vegetables too. I'm thinking I need to have her show me how to do it... I have grand delusions of being a very self-sufficient homemaker who can do all the things homemakers in the 1800's did. But then I decide to take a nap instead!
